Mediation of Disputes

Mediation (Peace-making)

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”
Matthew 5:9

Doug is a Tennessee Supreme Court-approved mediator for both civil law and family law disputes.  He has obtained additional training as a mediator of church and other large group conflicts.  Since 1998, Doug has mediated over 2,000 disputes.  Areas of conflict have included divorce and post-divorce, estate & probate, personal injury, malpractice, construction, real estate, employment, contract, paternity, and church.

Mediation of Disputes is an extraordinarily effective process for the resolution of conflict.  It is less expensive than litigation, both in time and money.  An even greater benefit is self-determination.

The people involved in a conflict are the people who know the most and care the most about the needs and concerns at issue.  They are therefore more empowered and more motivated than any stranger (judge, jury or arbitrator) to find the best solutions.  Mediation helps parties get past the obstacles created by the conflict: poor communication, distrust, anxiety and frustration, so they can find the common ground that is almost always there.

Doug’s legal background and pastoral skills cross over to enhance his mediation practice just as his mediation of disputes skills cross over into his other areas of ministry.  For further information, costs or references, please contact us by e-mail or telephone.
